Despite the recent CDC and New York State guidelines that lift indoor mask requirements in most locations, as a healthcare facility, Family Smiles will continue to require all patients/parents/family who enter our office to wear a mask in order to provide the safest environment (updated as of June 2021).
COVID-19 Safety Guidelines
Your safety is our number one priority. In light of COVID-19, we developed additional safety guidelines in accordance with our patient safety consultant, the American Dental Association (ADA), Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), American Dental Hygienists’ Association (ADHA) and Henry Schein, our dental product and equipment supplier.

In order to protect patients, the reception desk will have a plexiglass barrier between the patient and the Patient Service Representative, along with an air purifier with a HEPA filter and UVC light. Floor stickers will be located in the registration area so that patients can partake in social distancing.
PATIENT FACE MASKS REQUIRED.
Masks prevent the transmission of a possible infection or virus to others. If a patient or visitor does not have one on hand at the time of their appointment, we will provide one.
NEW SAFETY PROCEDURES:
PRE-PROCEDURE MOUTH RINSE.
You may be asked to take a pre-procedure mouth rinse. This is all done out of an abundance of caution and may be required based on your symptoms and the necessary dental procedures.
CLINICAL SANITATION PROTOCOLS.
We will continue to strictly follow our already vigorous universal infection control protocols. Patients will notice more frequent routine cleanings and daily disinfection of our facilities. Each treatment room will also have an air purifier with a HEPA filter and UVC light.
